Self-control is an internal proneness to mediating one's mentality and behaviors. The self-control is very important to individual's adaptation and development. However, undergraduates are weak in self-control. It may provide the help for undergraduates'study and the basis for the pointed education to conduct the research to undergraduates'self-control.Based on the summary analysis to the domestic and foreign related self-control's literature, the predecessor research results' foundation and the open-ended questionnaire surveys from 91 undergraduates, this research theory conception was proposed. Then we developed the scale of self-control of undergraduates, which has good reliabilities and validities. 541 undergraduates participated in our survey, the features of the self-control of undergraduates and factors that affected it were discussed. The relation between self-control and study adaptation and self-appraisal was studied by analyzing the 263 surveys of the total. Finally, the case interview to two cases who are in different level of self-control to further testify the reliability and validity of the theoretical structure of self-control.The main results are listed below:Undergraduates have some knowledge of self-control, but their level of self-control is low.Self-control is a multidimensional concept, which includes three factors, self-surveillance, and self-appraisal and self-strengthen.There's significant difference in undergraduates'self-control on the variables sex and home address.There's an evident correlation among the self-control total score and the self-appraisal, it has great effects to self-appraisal. There's an evident correlation among the self-control total score and the study adaptation, it has great effects to study adaptation, too.The scale of self-control of undergraduates has good reliabilities and validities.In conclusion, self-control has a good theoretic structure, which was testified by multiple ways and from different views, while the relation between the self-control and self-appraisal and study adaptation was discussed. It is helpful to improve undergraduates'recognitions on self-control and study adaptation and has the instructive values for their adaptations and developments.
