Cultural study springs up liking a rising wind and saddening clouds in domestic circles in the end of the 20th century. Literature research evolves from the traditional pure aesthetic text analysis to the cultural study. This paper tries to do such a culture study. It takes the men's fashion magazines, Esquire and mangazine, which rise in the late of 1990s, as examples aiming to probe into the kernel of the contemporary (1990s-present) male image. As a male lifestyle fashion publications, Esquire and mangazine strive to imagine and construct a modern male image referring to the community "ideal" in order to guide the audience to imitate and follow. Perspectiving on the survival of modern men and the entire state of the cultural landscape is the intention and novelty of this thesis, which is started from the angle of the male fashion image constructed from the magazine. In view of the men's fashion magazine is essentially a commercial media for the purpose of profit, there is existing more commercial and conspiracy traps behind it. Therefore, whether the constructed male image can be truly consensual or not; whether it can really take the "era model" mission or not are to be questioned and examined.
