It is important and necessary to make a distinction between grammar and syntax, and to regard syntax as a component of grammar. Syntax is the solid foundation of the grammar, even the whole language learning.English education in China these years proves that it is not time to discuss the necessity weather grammar or syntax is required to be taught or not, but how to be taught, especially in junior middle school students. When we look back into the past and present English education in junior middle schools, syntax education has been devalued to some extent. In this paper the author confirms that the syntax education has been devalued somehow through questionnaire investigation. This paper argues that the syntax education leads to the success or failure of English learning, that is, syntax education is the key for the beginners.Based on the investigation and experiment, the author has offered six principles in English syntactic learning which is quite appropriate for Chinese junior middle school students. The experiment results confirm that the six-principle strategy is very effective and popular among the junior middle school students. The majority consider it helpful to their English learning, and it is of great value for all English beginners. The author analyzed the theoretical foundations of the syntactic learning strategy with a series of common English sentences and famous linguistic theories.
