Curriculum is in the key position in school education, the goal and value of education are mainly embodied and implemented by Curriculum, therefore the reform of curriculum is the key content of educational reform. A new textbook is the concentrative embodiment of modern educational concept, it is the inevitable result of quality-oriented education development, It plays an important role in teaching of primary and middle schools. it is not only the specific embodiment of curriculum goal and content, but also the major tool of teaching activities to teachers and students.The 3rd Education Conference was held and the Decision about Deepening Educational Reform and Improving Quality-oriented Education thoroughly was made by State Council of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 1999. Aiming at the 21st century education and developing education plan made by Ministry of Education was approved and conveyed. On that conference the officials said current basic educational curriculum system would be innovated, the task towards the basic educational curriculum system of teaching material that faces new century should be studied and constructed. So the new round of basic educational course reform started from then on. The State Council has convened Nation-wide Basic Educational Working Conference In 2001, the decision about reform and development of basic education was made, the guideline of new curriculum system was further formed, and then the pace of reform was expedited. Through deep consideration, Ministry of Education established the Outline of Basic Educational curriculum reform (try out) , they determined reform goals and developed the course standard or guiding outline of each course. In 2001, the Party Central Committee and the State Department transmitted Outline of Basic Educational curriculum reform (try out) established by Ministry of Education, it symbolizes that we started the most extensive and deepest basic educational course reform since 1949. Established by Ministry of Education, The full-time historical course standard of the compulsory education ( experiment draft ) was published by Beijing Normal University Press ( following by abbreviation curriculum standard)and used in whole country, historical course types come to varieties.Under control of curriculum standard, there are eight kind of textbooks in junior middle schools all over the country. They are People's Education Press, Beijing Normal University Press ,Yuelu Press, Huadong Normal University Press, Sichuan Educational Press, Chinese Map Press, Hebei People's Press and Chinese Publishing House Press, etc ( not including history and society ). Outline of Basic Educational curriculum reform (try out) affords the details about how to reform. One of them is that it wants to change the situation which courses are concentrated too much. In order to adapt textbooks ,the nation, local government, schools must manage the textbooks together. All initial grades in Enshi, Hubei begins to reform in autumn in 2004, According to Department of Education of Hubei province, Enshi built the Selected Committee of Teaching Material and determined the textbooks which would be used. The Selected Committee of Teaching Material is made up of the deputies from educational administration, experts, teachers, principals, parents, the institute of education research, the committee of principle and supervisor. They determined the textbooks. The Junior middle schools of Enshi, Xuanen, Xianfeng chose the history textbooks printed by Yuelu Press. Jianshi, Lichuan, Badong, Laifeng and Hefeng chose the books printed by Beijing Normal University Press.This paper makes a comparison among the three kinds of textbook printed by People's Education Press, Beijing Normal University Press and Yuelu Press. I want to have a comparison because the teachers and students have adapted the textbooks printed by People's Education Press, but we don't know more about the other two kinds of books because we have just used them. Although all of them have obeyed the rules of the curriculum standard in different degrees, they have got the three levels of course goals—knowledge and ability, process and method, feelings attitude and the view of value. They emphasized the popularity, foundation and development of the compulsory education. This paper is taking three editions of teaching material of Grade 8 as an example, I will talk about the characteristic and new education concept of different editions from text system, text additional system and the textbooks roughly.
