Study On The Interaction Between The Olympic Game Hosted By Beijing In 2008 And The Construction Of A Harmonious Society

Beijing will host the Olympic Game in 2008, which will bring about comprehensive influences on the politics, economy, culture, society etc. in China. Facing the tremendous opportunities brought about by the Olympic Game , China should make use of it to propel all the aspects of society forward .In the Fourth Session of the Sixteenth Central Committee of the Party, China put forward the brand-new idea of construction of socialist harmonious society . After this guideline of administering our country was posed, how to make the Olympic Game in 2008 interact with the construction of a socialist harmonious society so as to make them coordinate, advance and develop mutually is worth thinking carefully.At present, the studies on the Olympic Game at home and abroad mainly concentrate on the following two aspects: One is the study on the Olympic Games' system and the other is mainly related to the studies on the influences of holding the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 on the society in China. These studies have made great contributions to the investigations of the connotations of the society in China from different levels and angles .But they are not systematic, especially the studies on the relationship between the Olympic Games and the construction of a harmonious society in China have mot been found in the literature .Therefore , the present study aims at applying the method of literature review , comparative study , the method of consulting the experts , etc. to investigate the interactions between the Olympic Games hosted in Beijing in 2008 and the construction of a harmonious society from the aspects of politics ,economy , culture and society . The conclusions of this study are as follows:1. The essence of harmony is the basic national spirit in China. The construction of a harmonious society in China refers to the social state which is on the basis of our socialist system and the large social system which consists of the four social dimensions, the harmonious politics, economy, culture and society.2. Holding the Olympic Games will enhance China's international image, boost our national spirits, promote the communication between China and the rest countries in the world, and accelerate the pace of democracy, which will bring about a great advance in the construction of the harmonious politics. On the other hand, the development of the harmonious politics will create a democratic atmosphere for the most of the Olympic Games and strengthen our national unity, which is helpful for the all-round arrangement of the Olympic Games. They show the mutual benefits relationship with each other.3. Holding the Olympic Games will bring enormous economic benefits, give an impetus to the economy, propel the reformation and development of the industries in China, and overally plan the development of the regional economy, which is good for the development of the harmonious economy. At the same time, the development of the harmonious economy will determine whether China will successfully hold the Olympic Games and it will also influence the results that we get from the Olympic Games. There is a mutual benefits relationship in economy.4. Implementing "Olympic blending Sports with culture" will improve the national qualities, promote the construction of socialist spiritual civilization, and propaganda our traditional culture. It is a great help for quicken the construction of the harmonious culture. The development of the harmonious culture is important for complementing the east and west cultures, solving the dissimilations in the Olympic Games, and develop science and technology and education which will provide the technical support for the Olympic Games. Mutual complementation can be seen in culture.5. Holding the Olympic Games can conformity social relations, propel theprocess of social equity, bring more opportunities for the employment so as to strengthen social vigour and creative power, improve the harmonious relationship between human beings and nature, and make our society harmonious. Meanwhile, a harmonious society will offer a good and soft social environment for the host of the Olympic Games, propaganda the thought of "Green Olympic Games" and lessen the honesty crisis about the Olympic Games. They express the mutual benefits relationship in society.6. It can be drawn the conclusion that to realize the sound interaction between the hold of the Olympic Games and the construction of a harmonious society, it is necessary to transform the government's administrative authority, perfect our law system, quicken the adjustment of the industrial structures, greatly stress the environmental protection, take vigorous action to expand the education of the Olympic Games, construct a harmonious sports culture, and promote the national participation of the Olympic Games in China.
