The cooperative notion is the outcomes of social and technology development, of the reflection for education itself. It has become one of the most important guiding thought in world education reform. The implementation of cooperative notion is to satisfy the need of life-long education and the need of education and talent quality. The cooperative teaching and learning theories include Rogers'non-direct teaching theory, Germany interpersonal theory, as well as cooperative education theory in Soviet Union and American cooperative learning. The successes of cooperative teaching and learning theories has great signification to our education practice. The main concern focuses on how we apply them well in our teaching practice. Thus, it is necessary to view these theories in different aspects in order to better understand and master the nature of cooperation in them. The paper intends to compare two branches of theses theories: cooperative education theory in Soviet Union and American cooperative learning. This paper includes seven parts. In the first part, after some main views about these theories are stated, cooperative education theory in Soviet Union and American cooperative learning has been chosen as comparison theories. The second part explains some terms about cooperation learning. In the third part, the orientation of cooperation of these two theories is analyzed from their social and educational background. Some aspects of these two theories such as the interrelation of teacher and student, teaching purpose, teaching evaluation are compared in the fourth part. The cooperative notion is a kind of concept which means, on the basis of cooperation in the class, students'active motivation is stimulated in the process of learning through group dynamics and teacher's guiding in order to promote student development. The nature of cooperation in teaching practice is students'active learning. The fifth part is about teaching orientation of cooperative notion of teaching activities, teaching interpersonal relation, students'development. In the sixth part there are some enlightenment about cooperative notion in our teaching practice. And some suggestions are to be given in the last part.
