This purpose of the study is to assess if Internet Addiction among some of the city junior middle school students in Zhenjiang is related to internet use behavior, parental rearing patterns and personality factors. Four hundred and fifty-five valid surveys were collected from two schools in Zhenjiang completed Internet Usage Inventory,Internet AddictionTest (IAT) , Egma Minnen av Bardndosnaupp for stran (EMBU) and Sixteen Personality Factor Qusetionnaire (16PF) .The results indicated that Internet Addiction does exist among some of the city junior middle school students. In particular,43 students were identified as internet addicts. It was found that the students living with only one parent predicted greater scores on IAT than those with both parents. And the student whose family has the condition to catch the internet is also easily addicted. The addict group considered Internet Bar as their major online way, and spent more time on chatting, games and e-mail than non-addicts. The addict group showed a significant relation to negative parental rearing patterns such as rejection, punishment, Interfere, over-protection. This study was found that there was significant difference existed in Factor O, Q3, C of 16PF between IAD and non-IAD group. Thestudy also explores the regression model of Internet addiction, and the model Indicates that the most powerful predictor Is rejection of parental rearing patterns, then over-interfere or over-protection; In 16PF, the first predictor if O, followed by EA, Ql, G, Q3. The boy students who often go to the internet bars and the girls who spent too much time on line at home are also predictors.
