Based on the research methods including investigation, documentation, mathematical statistics and logical analysis, the essay makes a comparative analysis of the current situation of women's gymnastics specialism curriculum models of physical education major in Chinese universities and colleges, points out the developing direction of the future curriculum models and puts forward the countermeasures of optimizing the curriculum models. The research findings show that at present the women's gymnastics specialism curriculum models of physical education major in Chinese universities and colleges fall into two categories: simple pattern and compound pattern, while the latter can be further divided into three types: the type of one specialism with all-round techniques, the type of all-round techniques developing progressively and the type of all-round techniques developing simultaneously. Different patterns of the curriculum models share common points in their guidelines, curriculum objectives, curriculum content and teaching modes, having broken away from the traditional subject standard orientation with a new advocation of all-round education and paying attention to the developing requirements of students and society. The curriculum objectives have been converted from simply teaching athletic techniques into the combination of knowledge, technical learning and ability cultivation, paying attention to students' all-round quality. The curriculum content involves three modules of theory, techniques and ability cultivation, giving prominence to the diversity of gymnastics, but the apportionment of class hours in the three modules is not reasonable. The combination of several teaching modes pays attention to the cultivation of students' creativity and self-learning ability while the teaching methods present the characteristic of combining traditional methods with modern methods and the universal attention of the application of modern teaching methods. And the assessment and evaluation system has basically realized the separation of teaching and examination but still focuses on the terminative evaluation. The essay also points out that facing the social developing requirements, the women's gymnastics specialism curriculum models should achieve the goal of diversity, under the tendency of which the optimization of the curriculum models and the final realization of exceeding the curriculum models will be the main developing orientation. The purpose of this essay is to provide beneficial reference for the development of the women's gymnastics specialism curriculum models of physical education major in Chinese universities and colleges.
