Under the background of the building of harmonious society and social inclusion of mentally disabled, the paper takes the cooperation between a special school and a community as an case, presents the practice of lifelong education advanced by the cooperation between special school and communityIt analyzed the current state of average education year, settlement, family education and community service of mentally disabled by questionnaire survey and interview, and discussed cooperation and win-win, investigation and evaluation, resource integration as the operational mechanism of practicing the lifelong education of mentally disabled. Concerned on the difference, life and cooperation, the research has developed and implanted a set lifelong education courses, provided direct and indirect service for the mentally disabled. It also summarized five strategies that advanced by the special school and community, that is demand orientation, cultural construction, curriculum development, parental involvement and co-instruction.It finds that average education years of intellectual disabled is insufficient, many adult intellectual disabled just stay at home, lead a closed life, the staff of "sunshine home" lack professional knowledge and skills. It demonstrated that the study on lifelong education of mentally disabled promoted by the cooperation of special school and community had achieved some results, it developed the potential of mentally disabled, advanced their social inclusion. It also promoted the development of the staff who worked for lifelong education.In the mainland, the study first discussed the topic of lifelong education of intellectual disabled that provided by special school and community from the respective of lifelong education. It not only offered a typical case for the learners to study community education and mentally handicapped education, thus enriched their theoretical research, but showed its reference value for community education and service practice.Lifelong education of mentally disabled is a long and complex project. The paper made some practice on the lifelong education styles of intellectual disabled, and achieved some results. In the later research, it may integrate resources; make further efforts to construct a lifelong education service model to meet their demands of intellectual disabled.
