This article analyzes the traditional Chinese education from the historic perspective. It emphasizes on its enlightenment to modern Chinese teaching. and proposes that regression and innovation in the traditional education is the direction of development of the language education today. The introduction part introduces the recent study situation in traditional Chinese education. It puts forward to what problems we concern about in the article, how to solve them, and how important to do this is.In the first chapter, the author tells us westernization in the course of Chinese education, and thinks about the gains and losses from language education in the last century and introspection of traditional Chinese education by modern scholars. In the second chapter, the author discusses the return of the traditional Chinese education with us. Firstly she expounds the advantages and enlightenment of the traditional Chinese education. Next she points out the possibility of language education in that way of returning to the traditional approach. In the Chapter Three the author raises the traditional Chinese education innovation issue. In the conclusion part the author emphasizes the importance of inheritance and innovation in today's Chinese education.This article brings up that Chinese education is the core of national education as well as the root of national culture. Chinese education today should learn from the education view of traditional one which is people first, teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, inheriting and carrying following the ancient tradition of literacy education. We should inherit the traditional successful teaching methods, which are the unique chant pedagogy, unique composition teaching method, meaningful antithetical couplet teaching method and calligraphy teaching method. and comprehensive reading ability. In order to select more modern Chinese teachers with higher teaching ability, we must improve traditional Chinese education, and never stop looking for the more suitable methods of Chinese education. That can make modern Chinese education catch up with the times.With the ideal of the traditional education, we can make improve our modern Chinese education further and further.
