Retirement age has always been one of the issues in the academia not only due to its significance attached to series of social problems such as pension revenue and expenditure position, relationship between demand and supply in labor market as well as the years the labors work, but also its effect on GDP, distribution, consumption plus national economy competitiveness. Hence, the study on retirement age is of great practical significance.Changes in retirement age mainly have great effects on social insurance fund as well as the relationship between labor supply and labor demand, still the life of younger elders and working young labors backed the situation in China. This thesis analyzes the effects of retirement age adjustments under the guidance of economical and sociological methods from the perspectives above based on the data of China and Shanxi Province, and then finds out that retirement age standardization and retirement in later years do not have negative effect on employment for young labors; what's more, these measures can solve the problems concerning the imbalance of pension revenue and expenditure to some extent; at the same time, these measures also have positive effects and eliminate many negative effect caused by retirement in advance. Therefore, delaying the retirement ought to be a long-term task of retirement system reform in our country in the future. After analyzing effects of retirement age, on the basis of situation in China, combining the experience of several typical countries, this thesis poses series of measures for retirement age adjustments. The framework of this thesis is listed as follows:The first part is an introduction mainly about the purpose for the subject, the study background, the review of study basis home and abroad, as well as the study method and outline of this thesis. Part two is a theoretical analysis of retirement age's effects from the perspectives as economics as well as sociology. The effects on labor market are introduced in the third part, which are mainly discussed based on the relevance between labor demand and supply and the changes in retirement age,as well as the data of China and Shanxi Province. The fourth part discusses the effects on pension funds. This part analyzes the elasticity of funds to the change of retirement age, and then approximately forecasts the tendency of funds gap of China and Shanxi Province according to the relevant data. Part five is a description of social effects from the angles of social equity and basic functions of social security system. Series of suggestions concerning legal retirement age improvement are posed in the last part based on China's situation referring to foreign experiences.
