"The Eastern Miscellany", issued from March 1904 to December 1948, is the longest lasting and most influential comprehensive academic journal during that 45 years in Chinese modern history. Based on the major perspectives from the journal, women's new changes in marriage and family, vocational fields as well as anti-Japanese Aggression War are discussed to reflect their lives in the 1930s.By going through women-related articles in"The Eastern Miscellany", 3 aspects are staged to dissertate: firstly, purposes of marriage, spouse choosing standards, customs in marriage and divorce phenomena are posted to mark the great changes in marriage system; secondly, the fact that no substantial changes in the status of Chinese vocational women had been made in the 1930s is revealed by the employment of vocational women, reforms of rural women's work and the conflicts between women's vocational and familial roles; lastly, given the background of the Japanese Aggression War against China, significant contribution from women are stated through the necessity of women's participation in the anti-invasion war, mobilization organized by women from all walks of society and forms adopted in the war etc..
