This paper discusses the modernity destinations of modern Chinese Enlightenments to show its contradiction and limitation and suggests that we must carry out, guided by the Marxism, the Scientific Development View and construct the Socialism Harmony Society to exceed the enlightenment and its modernity contradiction.It includes three Parts and five Chapters. Part one (Chapter 1) is the introduction to discuss the concepts of Enlightenment and Modernity and the modernity aim of the west Enlightenment. The enlightenment means the thoughts and movements of the promotion of people's extensive abilities and the combation to feudal authouracy, and its aim is the modernity. The modernity can be divided into two aspects of"Enlightenment"and"Aesthetic"and the later is the aim of the west Enlightenment.Part two (chapter 2-4) is the main part to discuss the contradiction and the limitation of the modernity of Chinese Enlightenments in history view. Chapter 2 analyses the syncretism of Chinese modernity and Enlightenments in the early and middle period of modern times. The Enlightenment Modernity is the destination of the Chinese Enlightenments in the period.Chapter 3-4 analyse the double division between Chinese Enlightenments and the modernity in the later period of modern times. The double aims of modernity of the New Culture Movement are the Enlightenment Modernity and the Aesthetic Modernity. But instead, the aims of modernity of the New Enlightenment of 1930s and 1980s is one-sided and so is the 1990s'New Enlightement.Part three presents conclusion that Chinese Enlightenment can not solve its contradiction without the Marxism. So we must carry out, guided by the Marxism , the Scientific Development View and construct the Socialism Harmony Society to exceed the Enlightenment and its modernity...
