The integration of ruling party, state and society is a kind of abnormal relations among party, state and society, which results from the inner structure and expansion of the function of ruling party. The integration of ruling party, state and society means that on the basis of vulnerable state capability and social capability the power of ruling party enlarges so greatly that ruling party controls the state and the society, and all of them had been integrated into one body in the process of political modernization in contemporary China. Its characters were: extreme centralization of power, polycentric structure, imbalance of power and capability, attached legitimacy. The organizational formations of the integration of ruling party, state and society are work-unit system, people's commune and revolutionary committee.The integration of ruling party, state and society was the result of certain historical, social and cultural circumstances. Its formation was relative to socialism, revolution, modernization. The integration of ruling party, state and society could be divided into three stages: primary formation (1949-1958), developing formation (1958-1967) and extreme formation (1958-1978). The integration of ruling party, state and society has positive and negative function on political stability, political participation, political authorization, political secularization and political socialization, which resulted in its success and failure.The integration of ruling party, state and society was one of the important political phenomenons in the process of political development in contemporary China. Studying the issue of the integration of ruling party, state and society is very significant for understanding regularity of Chinese political development, which provides a new angle of view for reflection on "the Great Leap" and "the Cultural Revolution". From viewpoint of the relation of ruling party, state and society, "the Great Leap" and "the Cultural Revolution" were the results of Chinese revolutionary society and modernization. Studying the issue of the integration of ruling party, state and society may draw a lesson from "the Great Leap" and "the Cultural Revolution" and give enlightenments to Chinese political development at present and in future.
