Agriculture, which is the foundation of a nation's economy, plays an vital role in every country whether in the past or in the future. Now a comparatively weak industry that faces serious challenges, ' agriculture should especially be protected and supported in China with workable policies enacted for its favor. Upon China's entry into WTO, we should make a full use of the rules and regulations established by WTO and draw on its member countries' experiences so as to further our protective measures to agriculture. The main means employed to protect and support our agriculture, however, is financial laws and regulations which, in accordance with the agreements of WTO and with the economic development in China, should be applied to the adjustment and perfection of agriculture as well as to the reform of agricultural taxation and the reduction of the financial burden imposed to the farmers. Only through these means can we foster the development of China's agriculture in a healthier, faster, and competitive fashion in the world economic market.
