Literary theory is one of the core curriculums in Chinese department,and also an important component of the discipline of Chinese Language and Literature in colleges.The "literary theory" course books which depict literary theory have gone through more than 90 years during which they experienced a process content enriching and system evolving continually.From the New Period to now,we have made great achievements on the compilation of literary theory through a number of conversions and breakthroughs.Literary theory course books with Chinese characteristics are come into being.However,there is no doubt that the compilation of literary theory course books is a tough job with many questions to explore.In this paper,the focus of study is the narration of theory with the compilation of course books from 1980s to now as the core.And following the examples of several representative literary theory course books of three periods,we analyze the characteristics,ideas and questions of course books during this period from historical and logical aspects,and then explore the evolution orbit of their development.Compared with literary theory course books in the early days of new China,the compilation of literary theory course books in New Period has been through a process of surpassing the narration of political instrument theory, reconstructing narration of theory with aesthetic theory as the core and varying procedure on post-modern context.At the beginning of the New Period,the whole culture field of the society including literature and art was in the "bring order out of chaos" period.To change the status quo of literary and artistic disciplines and establish a new concept of literary theory was an urgent requirement of literary theory.At the same time,for writing and publishing reasons,the compilation of literary theory course books did not become active with the literature and art.In the first chapter we mainly take YiQun's Basic principles of literature and CaiYi's Introduction to Literature which got into college lecture field of literary theory after the New Period as an example,and give an induction of its achievements and characteristics on the narration of theory and compilation way and other aspects. In the late 80's early 90's,along with criticism and reflection of "theory of reflection" and "ideology",people's cognition about the nature of literature achieved the transfer from "epistemology" to "aesthetic theory".The narration of literary theory course books had also stepped into this conversion.In the second chapter we mainly take the best reflection of aesthetic ideas of literary theory—Literary Theory Course whose chief editor is Tong Qingbing and its two revisions as representatives to analyze the variations about the narration way of literary theory course books.At the turn of the 21st century,a series of profound changes have taken place in literature study with the emergence of Post-modern culture and the context of globalization. Many of the fundamental questions of literary theory must have been re-thinking or deny-thinking on the new historical context.The anti-essentialism in Cultural Studies became a guiding force in the compilation of course books.The literary theory course books' compilation appeared with new features.This shift is clearly embodied in the course books, The Basic Question of Literary Theory edited by Tao Dongfeng and Literary Theory Reading【New】edited by Nan Fan.In addition,Wang Yichuan's literary theory also can be seen as the response to post-modern conditions,yet with an obvious personal taste of academic monographs.To review the compilation of literary theory course books' since the New Period,there are several issues worth of further reflection:The aesthetic ideology of literature was an important literary theory proposition in 1980s.Can it still be the first principle of literature and art in the present context? Can the narration of literary theory textbooks deny the essence of literary? What is more,in the context of globalization,it is a more urgent and realistic issue of how to achieve the internationalized perspective and localized construction on the narration of literary theory course books.
