Expounding Aesthetic Thoughts In Scripture Of The Great Peace

As an important classic of early Taoism, Scripture of the Great Peace reserves plenty of aesthetic thoughts and had profoundly influenced the Taoist aesthetics. Some scholars have done lot of researches on it and gained certain achievements since the 1990s. Its profound ecological aesthetic thoughts have been revealed a lot, such as"the Heavenly Father and the Earth Mother","the Unity of Heaven and Man"etc., and the ecological aesthetic ideas of treating nature as man, which obviously inherits the Taoist principles of respecting nature and loving life. Therefore, it is not only feasible but also necessary to do researches on the ecological aesthetic thoughts in Scripture of the Great Peace, which can further enlarge the research field of Taoist aesthetics and serve to build the modern ecological aesthetics. Moreover, as one of the classics of early Taoism, Scripture of the Great Peace has its own creative features. Its diction, style and literary forms were all produced under the social cultural background at that time. However, people have not paid enough attention to such features of Scripture of the Great Peace, let alone doing research on them from the perspective of literary aesthetics. Doing research on Scripture of the Great Peace, which is one of the rare works to reveal the literary consciousness of the ordinary people, may explore its great value beyond our imagination. As the ultimate aim for the Taoist is to achieve Tao and become eternal, the Taoist pursues"purity"and"tranquility"in mind and beauty of personality and heart without stopping. Scripture of the Great Peace is filled with plenty of aesthetic education thoughts of valuing life, which is an important aspect of Taoist aesthetics. Therefore, it is necessary for us to conduct deep researches on its life aesthetic education thoughts, which can provide some thoughts resources for building modern aesthetic education.Therefore, the thesis is divided into three parts.The first part focuses on the ecological aesthetic thoughts embedded in Scripture of the Great Peace, tracing the philosophic origin of the ecological aesthetic thoughts in Scripture of the Great Peace from the thoughts of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi. This part also analyzes the"Tao"noumenon of Three Emotions, Five Elements and Eight Diagrams to reveal its connotations and wisdom of ecological aesthetic thoughts and enlightenment of next-generation aesthetics.The second part explores its literary aesthetic thoughts through the researches and analysis of the creative features of Scripture of the Great Peace. Poems with seven characters in a line and the whole literary style of Scripture of the Great Peace are paid much attention to, which tries to open the mind for the following researches on literary aesthetics.The third part expounds the significance of the researches on the aesthetic education thoughts in Scripture of the Great Peace, the philosophic origin thereto and the pursuit of beauty in personality from the perspective of aesthetic education.
