This thesis is one kind of trimming research on American sinologist Roger T. Ames 'academic attainments.His research on Confucianism is dispersive among his works and theses.The main substance of this thesis is to separate the Confucianism research field ,and to do the study multiply in order to get a knowing of the actuality of American sinology field . Professor Roger has made great efforts on introducing Chinese philosophy to the west academia more clearly .The first section of the thesis is to illustrate the main point of his translation version of The Anelects. He believes that some important words that contain traditional Chinese philosophical meaning not been translated properly ,so some meaning cannot be understood deeply.And his translation version has the main character of philosophical interpretation. Section two is illustrated from the aspect of his comparative philosophy research. By analyzing the different structures of Chinese and western philosophy, we can get a deep understanding of the Confucianism. On the three books of comparative philosophy written by Roger and David L.Hall, they illustrate the inherent structures between Chinese philosophy and western philosophy to get a deep idea of Confucianism. Section three is related to the "Confucian democracy"Roger mentioned in his works ,and he believes that in ancient China, there was democracy in some aspect ,and if we make good use of the ancient resource ,then it will be better to our comtemporary society.
