A Study Of Xu Wei's Impeessionistic Painting Style

In the light of the problems in Xu Wei' painting study, this thesis makes a comprehensivedescription to his painting style on the basis of comparing his style with the other schools ofthe Impeessionistic Painting Style. Then, it analyzes the key elements in the creation of hispainting style from the form level, and study the relationship between his painting thoughtand his painting style. Furthermore, from the perspective of the development of style history,the writer analyzes and elaborate the Flower and Bird of Impeessionistic Painting Styletradition, the situation of Ming Dynasty cursive handwriting as well as the origin and theinheritance of painting which influence Xu Wei's painting style. On the other hand, by puttingXu Wei in the particular historical and cultural background, the dissertation studies theinfluence of the interaction between his personality and Wang Yangming's Xinxue on theartistic impulse and ideal of his painting creation, further explains his deep motive andselective inheritance in his painting style creation. Finally, the thesis also discusses thehistorical status and meaning of Xu Wei's painting. From the second chapter to the fourthchapter, the writer pays more attention to the discussion of the aesthetic level. In the fifthchapter more efforts are made on the research of the non-aesthetic level. Then in the sixthchapter, the writer makes a review on this problem with both artistic and aesthetic methods,besides which, some methods like history, psychology and stylistics are also used here.
