As the most remarkable work by Bizet, the opera "Carmen" remains a reputed repertoire in the theatres across the world. Guided by the thought of the blend between drama and music, this thesis intends to analyze the artistic characteristic of the opera "Carmen" and its influence upon the contemporary composition of the operas and the audience's taste in France by means of comparative culture, history of music and acceptance aesthetics.Carmen's artistic characteristic lies on the harmonious blending between the creation of the drama and its musical art, which, in turn, embodied in the character of Carmen the heroine. The artistic features of Carmen, which was a great departure from the experience of the opera compositors and of the theatre-goers in 1870s, provoked fierce attack and then vanished in Paris against the critical abuse, but it was these features that marked a brilliant beginning for Carmen the opera, and these features, which came to be admired later, made Bizet one of the greatest masters of opera in the world. "The Sun Of Med Art" is the title granted to Bizet to show people's admiration.
