Being one of the elements of plastic arts, refers to the visual effects produced by the creation of figure and the construction of the whole works reacted to visual aethetic feeling, visual psychology and theme transmission. Meanwhile, the characterization of image can also influence the formation and production of artistic style and construction of the form of works. Research on those questions plays and important role on the creation of visual figures. This article is about the discussion of such topic on the modelling of image.The whole article can be devided into four parts.The first part: "on the definition of image". It aims at the definition and features of image, and the analysis of intimate relationship between cognition process of image and production of painting symbols, from early simple visual image, furthermore the illustration of the relation between image and plastic arts, then to advance some problems for deeper discussion in next part.The second part: "the visual effect of image". This part is to discuss mainly from view of artistic psychology, arts and plastic arts to the effect of theme psychology, visual aethetic feeling and theme transmission that how a image is created.The third part: "image and shaped pattern". The part focuses on two problems: the first, though form of artistic styles of artists has many elements, the usage of characteristic modelling of image methods can not be underestimated; the second, image plays the main role to form construction.The fourth part is mainly the conclusion: as the main element of modelling, image includes abundant contents. It does not only react to new creation of figure in modelling and have the value to discuss or research on the field of plastic arts, but other artistic fields related to modeling are worth to explore as well.
