Wuzhong Literati During The Period From The Late Yuan Dynasty To The Early Ming Dynasty

Content: There appeared several poet crowds during the period from the late Yuan Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty, in which the Wuzhong crowd was the most prosperous one. This thesis was divided into five parts in order to research the developing of Wuzhong literary. The first part explore the forming of Wuzhong literati crowd. They lived in the rich Wuzhong area that was to the west of Zhejiang, whose literary talent was exceptional and individual character was strong. Because of many factors, there formed some small literary groups in Wuzhong district, which looked like a poet organizations. But strictly speaking, they were not a literary school. The second part explore the Wuzhong literati's activities. There were two important times originated by Yang Weizhen and Li Xiaoguang that ushered in a period of literary prosperity. Following their heels, some main Wuzhong literati, such as Gu Zhongying, Xu Dazuo, Nizan, Gaoqi etc. pushed the literary prosperity forword. they held different literary views, but had the similar spirit in the special times in Yuan Dynasty. The thirdly part analyse that how Yang Weizhen organized the school of "Tieya". Although Yang Weizhen treated moral and literary in the conservative way, but he paid more attention to creation. Yang Weizhen had created a exotic verse named "Tieya", which became the main literary trend of thoughts. In the fourth part we will get to their experience in the early Ming Dynasty. They were cruelly suppressed, hence Wuzhong literary declined. In the fifth part, we explore Wuzhong literary style. Wu/hong literary had different style at different times. It also means that Wuzhong literary was losing their district color. In a word, either the forming of Wuzhong literati or their literary style reflected a process of developing and declining.Wuzhong literati crowd was composed of many talented poets.
