The culture of history officials develops extremely in China, and, historians emerging in an endless stream.Far from it,Chi-nese classical novel criticism presents an intense historiography consciousness with being mixed up with historiography. It can help one to understand the instinctive connotation of the classical novel critic to make a thorough investigation of the relations of the two. Because of classical novel's budding and forming relating closely with history biography literature, the classical novel critic always do these:regarding it as historiography, judging it with historiographical measure, identifying its historiographical ef-fect,and the effort of recording literally and the historiographical structure are their criterion with which they evaluate the novel. The classical novel critic used to work hard to promote novel, but the distribution in all kinds of preface and postscript of these comments and articles on the investigation of aesthetic origins of the two are not enough in quantity and lack of comprehensive re-search. So,with the collection of materials on this subject,a macro-scopic studying is necessary, and,as it goes,it will be divided in-to three aspects as below:firstly,on the cause of evaluating clas-sical novel with historiographical measure;secondly,on the his-toriographical measure of the classical novel criticism specifically and analyzing how the measure influencing the creation and criti-cism of the novel;fhirdly, identifying the diachrony and syn-chrony of the development of the novel theory and creation with a breakthrough of historiography. To do this,it wants to under-stand the national tradition of the Chinese classical novel.
