In the late eighties of last century,Stephen Chow's films began famous. Stephen Chow's films quickly swept the Chinese-speaking world in just two decades. With the popularity of Stephen Chow's films, there have been many papers on the Stephen Chow's films,but these papers are not systematic.This paper systematically analyzes the postmodernity of Stephen Chow's films from the perspective of post-modern culture that reflects the characteristics of Stephen Chow's films best of all based on carefully watching Stephen Chow's films and related movies and television and studying in depth the post-modern culture theory. This paper discusses the postmodernity of Stephen Chow's films mainly from four aspects: the comedy style of Wu Li Tou,the consumption characteristics,the main technique of constructing plot, deconstructing.On this basis, this paper proposes creatively the concept of Stephen Chow phenomenon,analyses its relationship with Stephen Chow's films and its own limitations,and thinks about its cultural connotations from the perspective of postmodernism. This paper intends to reflect the far-reaching implications of Stephen Chow's films for film and television industry in China today with the concept of Stephen Chow phenomenon, and try to help readers to have a basic understanding of the cultural context of postmodernism in China today.
