During the Two Han Dynasty, the enfeoffment system and the county system exist simultaneously. These two kinds of political systems seem contradicted to each other. Although underwent many ups and downs, they eventually hold on to the end of the Han Dynasty. The fates of vassal states always tightly linked with the prosperity and decline of dynasty, which forms an important part in the political life in the Han Dynasty. This paper chose HeJian state as study objects. The existence of this state spans from the second year of Emperor Wen(178 B.C.), when Han Government separated HeJian Province from Zhao State, to the first year of YanKang of Empeor Xian(220 D.C.), when Cao Pi established Wei Dynasty, and reduce the last king of HeJian State of Eastern Han Dynasty to the Prince ChongDe. This paper will describe HeJian state's glorious history from state's establishment and abolishment, territory change, official establishment, ethnic customs, academic culture and some great names in HeJian state's history. The author strives for the restoration HeJian state's true face.This paper includes six parts. The first part of this paper list the House of HeJian by means of collecting a large amount of historical data, in order to offer the readers a clear knowledge of HeJian state's establishment and abolishment. Then the paper specifically analyzes all the kings of this state. At the second section, the author introduces the HeJian state's territory change with recourse to the map, and demonstrates the characteristics of the policies of Han Government in different ways. The third part briefly discusses the King's political power and the official establishment. The author illustrates the role of HeJian state in the Rebellion of Seven States in this section. The Forth Part, places the HeJian state's ethnic customs in the research system of Zhao Culture, and briefly generalizes only the social conduct. Then we will analyze the causes forming features in HeJian state's social conduct from geographical position, social economic situation, etc. The Fifth Part, based on the documents, the author reveals the academic development in HeJian state, by taking Xian Wang LiuDE as the ligament. The last part is devoted to giving everybody more close to the authentic HeJian state through five extremely representative persons in HeJian state:Lady GouYi, HeJian state's Prime Minister ZhangHeng, Emperor Huan, Emperor Ling and one of the three gentlemen in the Evening of Eastern Han LiuShu.
