Purpose To study the exp ression of VEGF-C and their biological significance in thyroid cancers. Methods Immunohistochemical S-P method was used to examine the exp ression of VEGF-C in 95 cases of thyroid cancers and 50 samples of nodular goiter. Results The strong expression of VEGF-C were displayed in thyroid cancers group 85.4% respectively were significantly higher than samples of nodular goiter 18.0% respectively (P<0.05);The positive rate of VEGF - C in lymph - node positive group were significantly higher than that in lymph - node negative group (P<0.05) ;The expressions of VEGF-C have carrelative with age, size of tumor, clinical grade and invasion of ThyroidPapillary Carcinoma (P<0.05), but no relationship with gender (P> 0.05).Conclusions Over expression of VEGF - C in ThyroidPapillary Carcinoma may promote the production of lymphatic tube. So expression of VEGF - C is closely associated with lymphatic metastasis in ThyroidPapillary Carcinoma.VEGF-C is closely associated with lymph node metastaes.
