Objective:To evaluate relationship between Matrix Gla Protein and coronary artery calcification and osteoporosis in postmenopausal patients.Methods:93 postmenopausal female subjects with coronary heart disease were enrolled in the second affiliated hospital of Nanchang university from Jan 2009 to Feb 2010; Groups were divided according to menopausal time, level of calcification and osteoporosis; Coronary artery calcification was judged by coronary angiography, and osteoporosis by measure of bone mineral density;①All subjects were divided into 4 groups according to level of coronary artery calcification, Matrix Gla Protein was tested by ELISA;②All subjects were divided into 4 groups according to level of osteoporosis ,Matrix Gla Protein was tested by ELISA;③All subjects were divided into 3 groups according to menopausal time, Matrix Gla Protein was tested by ELISA;④Difference of MGP expression was compared among coronary artery calcification combined with osteoporosis, pure osteoporosis and pure coronary artery calcification;⑤We evaluated that coronary artery calcification, osteoporosis and menopause time had effect upon Matrix Gla Protein, respectively Analysis of Covariance was undergone due to Matrix Gla Protein influenced by blood pressure, blood lipids and blood glucose; Multivariate linear regression evaluated the association among Matrix Gla Protein, coronary artery calcification, osteoporosis and menopause time. Results①Matrix Gla Protein levels are significantly and inversely correlated with the extent of coronary artery calcification(P<0.05);②Matrix Gla Protein levels are significantly and inversely correlated with the extent of osteoporosis(P<0.05);③Matrix Gla Protein levels are significantly and inversely correlated with the lenghth of menopausal time(P<0.05);④Matrix Gla Protein significantly decreased in coronary artery calcification with osteoporosis group than in pure coronary artery calcification or osteoporosis group(P<0.05);⑤Coronary artery calcification had more significant correlated with extent of Matrix Gla Protein than osteoporosis and menopausal time(P<0.05). Conclusions:①Matrix Gla Protein level are significantly correlated with the extent of coronary artery calcification, postmenopausal osteoporosis and menopausal time;②Matrix Gla Protein is a common pathway that coronary artery calcification and postmenopausal osteoporosis.③Matrix Gla Protein level are significant correlated with extent of coronary artery calcification than postmenopausal osteoporosis and menopausal time.
