Objective:To observe the effects of Opposing Needling Combined with Rehabilitation Training on stroke patients during the Period of Flaccid Paralysis, which may offer the clinic reference for the treatment of stroke patients during the Period of Flaccid Paralysis.Method:Fourty patients were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group. There were twenty patients in each group. Patients in the treatment group were treated with Opposing Needling combined with rehabilitation training, while those in the control group received Non-opposing Needling combined with rehabilitation training.Treatments were adiministered six times weekly for three weeks in both groups. All patients received an evaluation at baseline and after treatment. We assessed the development of the affected limbs by BrunnstromVI scales.Motor function was assessed using the motor component of the Fugl-Meyer measurement. We used Barthel index scales for the ability of daily life. The period of Flaccid Paralysis was recorded in th meantime.Result:(1)There was a notable improvment(P<0.05) in the BrunnstromVI scales, the motor component of the Fugl-Meyer measurement and Barthel index scales of the affected extremities in the control group and the treatment group before and after the training period.(2)There was a marked difference(P<0.05)in the period of Flaccid Paralysis, the BrunnstromVI scales, the motor component of the Fugl-Meyer measurement and Barthel index scales between the control group and the treatment group after the training period. And the treatment group is better than the control group.(3)Notable negative relationships were found in the BrunnstromVI scales, the motor component of the Fugl-Meyer measurement,Barthel index scales and the period of Flaccid Paralysis in both of the upper limbs and the lower limbs(P<0.01).Conclusion:(1)Both the methods of Opposing Needling combined with rehabilitation training and Non-opposing Needling combined with rehabilitation training could improve the development of the affected limbs, the motor function and the ability of daily life of stroke patients with Flaccid Paralysis. However, the method of Opposing Needling combined with rehabilitation training was better than the other.(2)The average period of Flaccid Paralysis of stroke patients in the Opposing Needling combined with rehabilitation training group was shorter than those who were in the Non-opp--osing Needling combined with rehabilitation training group.(3)There were notable negative relationships in the development of the affectted limbs, the motor function, the ability of daily life and the period of Flaccid Paralysis, which indicated that shortening the period of Flaccid Paralysis is benefit to the development of the affected limbs, the motor function and the ability of daily life of stroke patients.
