Objective To observe the change of tumour necrosis factor- alpha ( TNF-α) , nerve growth factor (NGF) and mood disorders (depression , anxiety ) in patient of category III prostatitis, and investigate the role and correlation of NGF and mood disorders and TNF-αin pathogenesy of category III prostatitis. Methods The levels of NGF and TNF-αin prostatic secretions of category III prostatitis patient and healthy men were detected by immunohistochemistry, Mood disorders of the patients were measured with self-rating anxiety scale (SAS)and self-rating depression scale (SDS),and the datas were analyzed by statistics. Results The expression of NGF,TNF-αand the scores were significant higher in category III prostatitis patients than health group(P<0.01); There are positive correlation of the expressions of NGF with the patients self-rating depression scale (SDS) (r=0.51, P<0.01);There are positive correlation of the expressions of NGF with the patients self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) (r=0.53, P<0.01). There are positive correlation of the expressions of NGF with TNF-αin patients of category III prostatitis(r=0.42,P<0.01).Conclusion 1.TNF-α,NGF and mood disorders may play an important role in process of the occurence and development of categoryⅢ prostatitis.2.There is a close correlation of the expressions of NGF with the mood disorders ,NGF are the important substance served as a mediator of the mood disorders in category III prostatitis patients.3. There is a close correlation of the expressions of NGF with the mood disorders ,NGF are the important substance served as a mediator of the mood disorders affecting categoryⅢprostatitis patients condition.
