Objective:To investigate the expression and the relativity of Activin A protein and Inhibin A protein in endometriosis and explore the role of Activin A and Inhibin A in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods:Immunohistochemistry SP methods was used to detect the expression of Activin A protein and Inhibin A protein in the ectopic and eutopic endometrium from 32 cases with endometriosis (ectopic endometrium group and eutopic endometrium group) and in the normal endometrium of 34 cases without endometriosis (normal endometrium group). Results:The Activin A protein in ectopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in eutopic endometrium group (P<0.05) and normal endometrium group (P<0.05); the Activin A protein in eutopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in normal endometrium group (P<0.05). The expression of Activin A protein in secretory phase was significantly higher than that in proliferative phase in each group respectively (P<0.05). The expression of Activin A protein in stageâ…¢-â…£was significantly higher than that in stageâ… -â…¡of endometriosis (P<0.05). The Inhibin A protein in ectopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in eutopic endometrium group (P<0.05) and normal endometrium group (P<0.05); the Inhibin A protein in eutopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in normal endometrium group (P<0.05). The expression of Inhibin A protein in secretory phase was significantly higher than that in proliferative phase in each group respectively (P<0.05).The expression of Inhibin A protein in stage III-â…£was significantly higher than that in stage I - II of endometriosis (P<0.05).The expression of Activin A protein had positive correlation with that of Inhibin A protein in each group (P<0.05).Conclusion:(1) The hyperexpression of Activin A protein and Inhibin A protein in endometriosis suggest that Activin A and Inhibin A may play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis;(2)The expression of Activin A protein and Inhibin A protein had relationship with the menstrual cycle in each group endometrium; (3)The expression of Activin A protein and Inhibin A protein were correlated with clinical stages, suggest that both of them may play a role in development of endometriosis;(4)The expression of Activin A protein had positive correlation with that of Inhibin A protein in each group endometrium, suggest that two proteins may exert a synergistic effect on the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
