| Object To investigate the concentration levels of adiponectin, omentin and matrix metalloproteinases-3 in knee synovial fluids on different stages of osteoarthritis, clarify their roles in the osteoarthritis, provide theoretical and experimental basis to find effective interventions target for the clinical treatment of osteoarthritis. Methods Collect synovial fluids of 34 patients with knee osteoarthritis, and classify them into four groups according to the radiographic grading (K&L-grade).Appoint K-L-0 grade patients suffered with meniscus injury only as controls. The levels of adiponectin/ omentin and MMP-3 in synovial fluids were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results The adiponectin levels in synovial fluids were significantly higher in the K-L-â…¢and K-L-â…£grade OA patients than those of controls and K-L-â… ,K-L-â…¡grade patients with statistical difference (P<0.01).The omentin levels in synovial fluids were significantly higher in the K-L-â…¢and K-L-â…£grade OA patients than those of controls and K-L-â… ,K-L-â…¡grade patients with statistical difference (P<0.05).The MMP-3 levels in synovial fluids were significantly higher in the K-L-â…¢and K-L-â…£grade OA patients than those of controls and K-L-â… ,K-L-â…¡grade patients with statistical difference (P<0.01).There is positive correlation between adiponectin and MMP-3 levels in synovial fluids of OA patients, and also between omentin and MMP-3 levels. Conclusions The levels of adiponectin, omentin and MMP-3 in synovial fluids of severe knee OA patients are significantly high. It suggest that they may be involved in the pathogenesis of OA. MMP-3 has a positive colleration with adiponectin levels (P<0.001), and also with omentin levels in synovial fluids of OA patients (P<0.001), which suggest that adiponectin and omentin may have a coaction to increase MMP-3 level. |
