Objective:Measureing the expression of TRPV6 in human primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), to explain its role in the development of human HCC.Methods:Tissue samples and clinical data were obtained from 55 patients with Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma(HCC) who underwent hepatectomy between 2005 and 2009 at the Department of Surgery, the Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. The expression of TRPV6 were assessed by immunohistochemistry in the study. Furthermore, the correlations between the expression of TRPV6 and clinicopathological parameters including the tumor cell differentiation, tumor size and number portal vein tumor embolus, were analyzed.Result:Immunohistochemistry studies showed that the TRPV6 expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma and peri-tumor tissues, but the expression of TRPV6 in hepatocellular carcinoma was higher than the peri-tumor tissues (P<0.05).There was significantly difference in the expression score of TRPV6 between the Well/Moderately differentiated tumors and the Poor ones (P<0.05). But no relationship was found between TRPV6 and other main clinicopathological of PHC(P>0.05)Conclusion:TRPV6 may play an important role in the development of human primary hepatocellular carcinoma.
