Objective:To investigate and analyze the distribution characters of eye dominance before and after refraction surgery, and evaluate the change on the impact of satisfaction between the changed subjects and the unchanged. Methods:Accordance with Randomized Controlled Clinical Trials, 190 patients of myopia 380 eyes received LASIK were enrolled in this research. Dominant eye was examined using the hole-in-the-card test. According to the degree of anisometropia and ocular dominance, the myopia patients were classified into three groups. Preoperative and postoperative 1 month, refractions, ocular dominance, visual activity were recorded for all cases. Every patient accepted the investigation of the satisfaction about vision after postoperative 1mo.Results:Before LASIK, the right type of dominant eye was 125 patients (65.9%). Left-type was 65 patients (34.1%). The refraction of anisometropia and the best uncorrected vision acuity eye had no significant correlation with dominance eye. After operation, the right dominance eye was 92 patients (48.4%), Left-type was 98 patients (51.6%). There were 59 patients(31.1%) had exchange. Group B, ocular dominance with higher diopter eye of anisometropia(>1.75D), had higher rate of exchange (47%)than group A,C(29%), postoperative dominance eyes(-0.291±0.888) had slightly lower diopter than nondominance eyes(-0.424±0.911). The investigation of satisfaction had no statistical significance between the changed patients and the unchanged. Conclusions:LASIK as a stimulating factor, while correctting the refractive error, this operation make the exchange of dominant eye happening, especially in Group B. But the difference of satisfaction between the changed and the unchanged has no statistical significance. The dominance eyes have lower degree of myopia than nondominance eyes in postoperative subjects. Therefore, we draw a conclusion ocular dominance has plasticity after critical period.
