objective:To investigate the expression of Eotaxin-1 and VCAM-1 in endometriosis for the exploring the role of Eotaxin-1 and VCAM-1 in the pathogenesis of endometriosis and the correlation between Eotaxin-1 and VCAM-1.Methods:Immunohistochemistry and Real Time-PCR were used to detect the expression of Eotaxin-1 and VCAM-1 in the eutopic and ectopic endometrium of 30 cases with endometriosis (eutopic endometrium group and ectopic endometrium group) and in the normal endometrium of 27 cases without endometriosis (control group). Results:The expression of Eotaxin-1 protein and Eotaxin-1mRNA in ectopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in eutopic endometrium group and control group; the Eotaxin-1 protein and Eotaxin-1mRNA in eutopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in control group; the expression of Eotaxin-1 protein and mRNA in secretory phase was significantly higher than proliferative phase both in eutopic group and control group. The expression of VCAM-1 protein and VCAM-1mRNA in ectopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in eutopic endometrium group and control group; the VCAM-1 protein and VCAM-1mRNA in eutopic endometrium group was significantly higher than that in control group; the differences of VCAM-1 protein and VCAM-1 mRNA between proliferative phase and secretory phase are not significant in ectopic eutopic endometrium group and contol group; the expression of VCAM-1 protein and VCAM-1 mRNA in the stage III-IV was significantly higher than in the stageâ… -â…¡.There was significant positive relativity between the expression of Eotaxin-1 and VCAM-1,both in protein level and gene level.Conclusion:1 There is an evidence that the abnormal expression levels of Eotaxin-1 and VCAM-1 protein and mRNA of patients with endometriosis may play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.2 The abnormal expression of Eotaxin-1 was shown to be significantly correlated to the positive expression of VCAM-1 in endometriosis which suggested they may play a role of synergistic effect in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
