Objective:The aims of this study is to verify the inter-rater reliability and validity of the brief ICF core sets for stroke in China, to increase evidence to the validation of the brief ICF core sets for Chinese patients with stroke, and to discuss the correlation between Chinese version and International version, which is more pratical in clinical assessments.Method:Seventy-eight patients with stroke were enrolled in the study. Fifty subjects were involved in the first part of the study. The functional evaluation were assessed by ICF brief core sets for stroke, the NIH Stroke scale(NIHSS), Fugl-Meyer motor scale(FM) and Barthel index(BI). The inter-rater reliability were analyzed using Kappa correlation statistics. In the second part, the concurrent criterion validity were analyzed by Spearman rank correlation coefficients, the brief ICF core sets for Chinese patients with stroke, MMSE, NIHSS, FM, Motor Assessment Scale (MAS), BI, mRS, WHODAS2.0, and SF-36 were used in forty-two patient. Meanwhile, the validity was analyzed by Spearman rank correlation coefficients in the third part.study. Thirty-six patients were evaluated by using two different versions. Results:The categories of the brief ICF core sets for stroke had moderate to excellent inter-rater reliability(Kappa value 0.450-1.000). Correlation analyses showde that the total scores of the brief core sets were highly associated with the scores of the NIHSS, FM and BI. Spearman rank correlation coefficient in NIHSS, FM and BI were 0.795, -0.866 and -0.795 , respectively(P<0.01). The absolute value of Spearman rank correlation coefficients were between 0.353~0.723(P<0.01) in MMSE, NIHSS, Fugl-Meyer, MAS, BI, mRS, WHODAS2.0, SF-36. The value is 0.673 and 0.697 when selected the qualifier of performance and capacity. Conclusion:The brief ICF core sets for stroke is reliable and valid as a measurement for stroke patients. The brief ICF core sets for Chinese patients with stroke has moderately degree with other scales used to assessment stroke. There is good correlation between the two versions. These two scales are validity . However, more studies needed to adjust the scales in future clinical application.
