Root canal therapy (RCT) is the most effective method for treating various endodontic and periapical diseases. Preparing, shaping and dressing the root canal are the three major steps of RCT .The success of RCT depends mainly on root canal preparation and the quality of root canal filling. Obturation of the cleaned and shaped root system is the last and the vital step in endodontic therapy ,with the purpose of preventing bacteria accessing to the root canal ,so as not to cause reinfection.E&Q plus system is a root canal filling set, including two techniques. Their working principles are continuous-wave technique and injectable technique. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of E&Q plus technique in vivo and in vitro.Partâ… The evaluation of the sealability of E&Q plus technique in vitroExperiment one: Apical microleakage test by dye penetration on cleared tooth modelObjective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the apical sealing ability of E&Q plus technique and lateral condensation technique in vitro.Materials and Methods: thirty extracted anterior teeth with one single root canal were prepared using ProTaper Ni-Ti files and K-type files, and then the root canals were filled using lateral condensation technique or E&Q plus technique. Apical microleakage was determined using dye penetration and clearing technique, and measured under the stereomicroscope. Results: A significant difference was observed in the microleakage values of the two techniques (P<0.05).Conclusion: Compared with lateral condensation technique, E&Q plus technique shows better apical sealing ability .Experiment two: The microleakage study on E&Q plus technique with different root canal sealers. Objective:To study the periapical microleakage of the root canals filled with three root canal sealers using E&Q plus technique.Materials and Methods: Thirty extracted anterior teeth with one single canal were collected and randomly divided into three groups as follows : AH-plus (group A), Adseal (group B), and Cortisomol (group C).Each tooth had it's canal prepared using ProTaper Universal files and obturated by continuous-wave condensation. The apical microleakage was assessed by Transparent dyeing method. Results: The difference observed between the three root canal sealers was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion: This study demonstrates that different root canal sealers make no difference in the sealing ability using E&Q plus techniquePartâ…¡Clinical application of E&Q plus techniqueObjective:The objective of this study was to assess the obturation quality and the short term of clinical curative effect of E&Q plus technique.Materials and Methods: 59 patients with pulpitis or apical periodontitis were selected and randomly divided into two groups. Each tooth had it's canal prepared using ProTaper Universal files and then obturated by E&Q plus technique or the cold lateral compaction technique. Then the obturation quality and the short stage of clinical curative effect of the two groups were assessed by radiography and clinical observation after 3 months. Results: There was no significant difference of success rate between continuous-wave condensation technique and the cold lateral compaction technique. The filling time was statistically different between the two groupsConclusion:E&Q plus system is a fast and safe root canal obturation technique. ,the short-term clinical curative effect of it is reliable.
