ObjectiveTo investigate the applied value of assessing the early change of left ventricular short-axis strain and twist in patients with diabetes nephropathy by ultrasound speckle tracking imaging.MethodsOn the basis of urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER) , patients were classified of 30 with diabetes mellitus only (group A)(UAER)<20μg/min, 30 with both diabetes mellitus and diabetes nephropathy (group B) (UAER) (20~200μg/min),and 30 normal controls were collected. Left ventricular global and segmental radial strain ,circumferential strain and twist were measured with 2D strain software respectively.Results1.Left ventricular peak systolic radial strain of parameters in A group were lower than those in nomal group(P<0.05). Left ventricular peak systolic radial strain and circumferential strain of parameters in B group were significantly lower than those in nomal group(P<0.01). But peak systolic radial strain and circumferential strain of some segments in B group were lower than those of group A(P<0.05).2.As seen from the apex, the normal left ventricular performed a wringing motion with a clockwise rotation at the base and counter clockwise rotation at the apex. The rotation of the basal levels and the apical levels in group A, B were higher than nomal group(P<0.05). Peak of twist angle, PTV and PUV are increased, HTU extended, UntwR decreased, compared with controls group(P<0.05);Compared with A, the peak value of apical rotation and peak of twist angle increased, HTU extended, UntwR decreased in group B.Conclusion1 Ultrasound speckle tracking imaging could be used to evaluate the early change of left ventricular function in diabetic nephropathy patients.2 Speckle Tracking Imaging is a new method to assess left ventricular function.3 Speckle Tracking Imaging is superior to TDI for angle independency, high repeatability and simple process of analysis.
