The Study Of The Comorbidity Of PTSD And MDD In Middle-school Students Who Exposed To The Zhouqu Debris Flow And Its Relationship With Psychological Resilience | Posted on:2012-03-01 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:Q Liu | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2154330335971302 | Subject:Physiology | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Objective:To survey the epidemiological characteristics of posttraumatic stress disorder and the status of concomitant depression in middle-school students exposed to the Zhouqu debris flow and resumed study in another school, and analysis the effects of psychological resilience to the mental health of middle school students after disaster.Methods:The cross-sectional research methods combined questionnaire and interview were applied.1219 middle-school students resumed study in a school of Lanzhou after Zhouqu debris flow were investigated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder-Self-rating Scale(PTSD-SS), Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC), Beck Depression Inventory-2nd Edition(BDI-â…¡).Results:1. The positive symptoms occurring rate of PTSD is 64.97%, and boys 60.5% was lower than girls 70.3%(p<0.01);But there was no significant difference in age(p>0.05).2. The rate of the students exposed to the disaster and had injury with the positive symptoms of PTSD was 72.3%, while the rate of exposed but safe is 65.2%, and those just heard is 60.7%.The traumatic feelings in turn relieved.3. Every dimension of mental resilience was related to PTSD symptoms in different extents. Good psychological resilience can reduce the incidence of PTSD and alleviate its severity of symptoms.4. Of all PTSD sufferers, the rate of Comorbidity major depression symptoms was 11.0 %, which included boys 11.2%, and girls10.7%, and there was no significant difference in gender(p>0.05). The effects of biological gender and the gender roles before trauma should be completely integrated into the biological-psychological-social medical mode, so as to explain the different occurrence of PTSD between genders better.Conclusions:1. There is a high rate of the positive symptoms PTSD in middle school student after debris flow, which is higher than teenager groups exposed to other disasters with different characters.2. The phenomenon of comorbidity in psychiatric disorders after disaster was significant. there is a high comorbidity rate between PTSD and MDD, It is indicated that the post-disaster trauma was complexes of PTSD and MDD.3.
