| PurposeIn order to analysis the characteristics of etiologic factors in Chinese patients with ischemia cerebrovascular disease by digital subtraction angiography. We have focused on the incidence rate, location, distribution and degree of cerebrovascular stenosis or occlusion. Through that, we would explore the relationship between the degree of cerebrovascular stenosis and "yin and yang type certificate stroke", and to do elementary study on the characteristics of acute ischemic stroke TCM syndrome types differentiated from "yin type certificate" and "yang type certificate" by comparative research.MethodThe study was to review the medical records of acute ischemic stroke patients admitted to Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM neurology center for cerebrovascular disease from July 13,2005 to July 17,2008. All the patients were examined by standard aorta and cerebral digital subtraction angiography. We design the study in which experienced professors read the photos to identified whether there was cervicocranial artery stenosis or not, and the incidence rate, location, degree of cerebrovascular stenosis or occlusion would be analyzed too. Then we collected clinical data, included sex, age, past medical history and TCM Syndrome Types, and made a statistical analysis. ResultA total of 118 male patients and 48 female patients were included, in the average of 62.0±10.6 years old. Among the 166 cases of cerebral infarction, 113 of them are anterior circulation infarction, and 53 of them are posterior circulation infarction. The DSA results were positive in 97 patients(85.8%) among the anterior circulation infarction(113 patients), the DSA results were positive in 40 patients(75.5%) among the posterior circulation infarction(53 patients). The contrast between the anterior circulation infarction group and the posterior circulation infarction group about the positive stenosis did not present statistical significance. The stenoses are found most frequently at the extracranial segments of ICA(58.5%) in the extracranial artery, but of MCA (45.8%) in the intracranial artery. There was not significant statistic difference in the degree of cervicocranial artery stenosis or occlusion between "yin type certificate" group and "yang type certificate" group (P>0.05). The contrast about the degree of angiostenosis between anterior circulation infarction group and posterior circulation infarction group did not present statistical significance. The proportion of "yang type certificate" in male patients is higher than female patients; "yang type certificate" patients have a higher proportion of smoking history than "yin type certificate". There was significant statistic difference was found in age, younger ones took up higher proportion in "yang type certificate stroke", while older ones took up higher proportion in "yin type certificate stroke"ConclusionThe age over 60 years old were majority in patients of acute ischemic stroke. Among the acute ischemic stroke patients, female took up higher proportion in diabetes, while male took up higher proportion in previous smoking or drinking history. The stenoses are found most frequently at the extracranial segments of ICA in the extracranial artery, but of MCA in the intracranial artery, posterior circulation infarction had a lesser extent of cerebrovascular angiostenosis than anterior circulation infarction group. Compared with "yin type certificate", "yang type certificate" had the characteristics of higher proportion of male, had more younger patients, and more patients in "yang type certificate" had history of smoking. |
