| ObjectiveThis randomized controlled clinical trial intends to discuss the clinical curative effect of Modified Cang Fu Dao Tan (CFDT) Decoction in the treatment of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) so as to search for the effective prescription and medicine for its treatment.MethodsResearch objects are PCOS patients who were given medical care in the TCM clinics in Taizhong, Taiwan from May 2009 to December 2010. Randomized controlled trial methods are adopted and the qualified subjects are allocated into the Trial Group (Modified CFDT Decoction) and the Control Group (placebo) with 38 in each group. The Trial Group adopts the modified CFDT Decoction and the Control Group adopts placebo (starch). Three months make a treatment period and there's one treatment period in total.ResultsThe two groups before treatment have no significant difference in age, and disease duration, so they are comparable. The Trial Group:the full recovery rate is 50%, the effective rate 42.11%, the total effective rate 92.2%; the Control Group:the full recovery rate is 0.0%, the effective rate 18.4%, the total effective rate 18.4%. In total curative effect comparison, there's statistically significant difference between the two groups (z=6.6, P=0.00). It is confirmed that the Trial Group has good curative effect in PCOS treatment. There's significant difference in the total curative effect comparison (Pearson Chi-square value=41.7, P=0.00). It is confirmed that the Trial Group has good curative effect in PCOS treatment. There's significant difference in comparing the disappearance rates of symptoms like delayed menorrhea, small quantity of menstruation, hairiness, obesity, etc. of two groups after treatment. It is confirmed that the Trial Group has better curative effect than the Control Group in improving the obesity symptoms.ConclusionTwo groups'patients'clinical symptoms are improved after treatment. In PCOS treatment, CFDT Decoction has confirmed curative effect and is safe and reliable. |
