Objective:To analyze the effectiveness of antithymocyte globulin (ATG) in tr eatment of SAA and the change of peripheral blood T cells. Methods:Fifteen pa tients of SAA were treated with ATG, assisting with cyclosporine A, andrin, and gr anulocyte colony-stimulating factor. Results:The healing rate was 20% (3/15), the remission rate 13.34%(2/15), and the obvious improvement rate 33.33% (5/15), Th e overall effective rate was 66.67%. The effective rate was not related with age,c ourse of disease, proliferation degree before treatment, platelet count and reticulocy te count.Whereas the patients with ANC less than 0.2×109/L had a lower remissi on rate (P<0.05). The patients with severe infection during the treatment had a pro longed platelet transfusion (P<0.05).After the treatment the T cells occured change before treatment had significant difference (P<0.05).15 patients had fever(100 %), among them two patients had rash(13.33%) and five patients had sore muscle (33.33%). Conclusion:ATG in treatment of severe aplastic anemia was valid and s afe. ANC would be a prognostic factor for efficiencyin SAA. The patient's T-cell s ubsets had obvious change ofter treatment.
