Objective:To summarize the causes, clinical characters and treatments of maxillofacial fractures. Methods:A total of 495 patients with facial fracture treated at Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Xinjiang Medical University, from January 2005 to November 2009, were investigated. Their age, gender, cause of fractures, time distribution of injury, pattern of fractures, nerve injury, associated systemic injures, Operation time, Surgical incision, treatments were summarized. Results:The finding shows the average age was31.45 years and the propotion of 20-39ys was the topmost (60.60%); The males were most accounting to 82.42%; Summer was the season with the greatest number of cases of maxillofacial fractures (36.57%), Incidence of the highest on august; The leading cause of facial fractures was traffic accidents accounting to 46.67%; The associated systemic injuries patients was accounting to 33.74%; the incidence rate of brain damage was the topmost (33.51%) among them; The mandibular fracture were the topmost (45.05%) in the clinical classification of facial fractures; Infraorbital nerve injuries were most common (30.51%) in The nerve damage; 383 operations treatment, the operation of time in 24 hours-within 2 week of the most (57.44%); Intraoral incision was the first choice (46.93%); In the years Rigid internal fixation has been widely used.
