Aim:First, to determine health-related quality of life in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to analysis the important factors among different subscales of HRQOL. Second, investigate the basic SLE health-related knowledge on the patients and make effective with comprehensive health education for patients.Methods:The first part, SF-36 was applied by 62 SLE patients. Analyze the relevant of 8 composite scales of the Medical Outcomes with gender, age, education background, job occupation, cause of disease, hormone dosage, systemic lupus erythematosus activity index score(SLEDAI) and other factors. The second part, develop the survey form about SLE disease knowledge question. Analyze the differences in statistical according to the scores that patients before and after healthy education in the SLE-related knowledge.Result:First, each subscales of the SF-36 have significant difference between patients with SLE and controls. Quality of life in patients with lupus was associated with SLEDAI, cause of disease, education background and so on. Second, compare the scores individual and total about the SLE patients before and after health education. The result revealed that after health education both the individual and total scores were significantly higher than before (P<0.01).Conclusion:There exist significantly correlated with SLE patients and normal. SLE patients were insufficient about the disease knowledge and thus hinder the rehabilitation of the disease. But Patients have more understanding of the SLE after the health education. It is necessary to conduct a comprehensive system of health education to help them establish the confidence to overcome the disease, improve health status, and promote recovery from disease and finally improve quality of life.
