Objective:To study the expression and clinical significance of Merlin protein in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Methods:The expression of Merlin protein in 45 cases of NSCLC and adjacency tissue of NSCLC and normal lung tissue were checked by Immunohistochemistry. The relations with the expression of Merlin protein and the multiple factors of pathological type, gender, P-TNM stage, differentiation and lymph node metastasis were analyzed statistically. Results:The expression rates of Merlin protein in NSCLC and normal lung tissue sections were 73.33%and 15.56%, respectively(P< 0.05); The expression of Merlin protein was not associated with pathological type, gender, P-TNM stage, differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P>0.05)(X2=0.895,0.164,0.204,1.399,0.7760.088,1.926,1.220,0.008,P=0.344,0.685,0.652,0.237,0.378,0.766.0.165,0.269,0.928).Conclusion:Merlin protein contribute to the initiation and development of metastasis of NSCLC, which suggested to know the biological behavior of NSCLC. The expression of Merlin protein was not associated with pathological type, gender, P-TNM stage, differentiation and lymph node metastasis.Merlin protein and NSCLC related to understanding of NSCLC biological behavior.
