Research Purpose:A retrospective research into the subject, find out the survival rate and sequela of nasopharyngeal cancer patients who after the radiotherapy get the combination of traditional Chinese medicine treatment, and further discuss the long-term effect of treatment with TCM for nasopharyngeal cancer patients. Methods:to refer to the hospitals or clinics or radiation records to get the demography information and clinical data. on voluntary basics, divide the patients into a treatment group of 107 cases, getting Chinese medicine and radiotherapy, and control group of 123 cases, taking radiotherapy only. Follow up for the patient's survival, Sequelae and (or) cause of death through telephone or out-patient clinic, and set up records for each patient. This following-up work will begin From february 1, by 2010 to 2011 in march 20. All cases will be followed up to the death or over 3 years. Observe 230 cases of nasopharyngeal cancer patients of their survival rate of a year, three years, five years. All data will be analysed with the spss17.0 package, while the survival rates will be calculated by Kaplan-Meier product limit method. Comparisons among two groups will be performed by using Log-rank test. Compare sequelae of two groups with Wilcoxon rank, calculate the sequelae of occurring. In this way, study the long-term effect of the nasopharyngeal cancer patients with the Chinese medicine treatment.Results:230 cases nasopharyngeal cancer patient's one year, three years and five years survival rates were to 97.4%,79.5%,65.2%. The treatment group one year, three years and five years survival rates were to 99.1%,86.4%,72.5%, the survival rates of the control group one year, three years and five years as for:95.9%,73.5% and 58.3%. Statistics, there are differences(P<0.05).21 disasters in a dry mouth is superior, left are no differences. A hierarchical group analysis of 230 nasopharyngeal cancer patients, the results showed thatThe survival rate is superior to the control group who the age over 50 years old, T3-4, No,â…¢-â…£stage, poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma into nasopharyngeal cancer patients with chinese medicine treatment, Statistics, there are differences(P<0.05).21 sequelae of a dry mouth, a toothache is superior to the control group, left sequelaes are no diffierences. The conclusion:after the radiotherapy treatment with the Chinese medicine, it can increase the survival rates, relieve dry mouth and toothache, extense survival period, therefore the combining of traditional Chinese and Western medicine can have long-tern effect on nasopharyngeal cancer patients. Nasopharyngeal cancer patients who the age over 50 years old, T3-4, N0,â…¢-â…£stage, poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma can improve their survival rates with the Chinese medicine.
