Experimental Study Of The Intervention Of Buyang Huanwu Decoction On Metabolic Syndrome With Prethrombotic State

Objective:By observing the interventive affect of " Buyang Huanwu decoction (BYHW decoction) " on insulin resistance(IR) and Prethrombotic State (PTS) of animal with Metabolic Syndrome (MetS), to study its prevention effects and its mechanism. Methods:To set up pathological modal of PTS of MetS, rats were given streptozotocin (STZ) injection intraperitoneally and feed with high-fat and high-carbohydrate diet and were distributed randomly into 4 groups:empty control, model control, BYHW decoction group, BYHW decoction without Radix Astragali group. Observing:body weight (BW), fasting blood glucose(FBG), random blood glucose(RBG), insulin(Ins), Homeostasis Model Assessment-Insulin Resistance(HOMA-IR), Platelet Aggregation rate(PAG), von Willebrand factor(vWF) and Thromboxane A2(TXA2) in serum. Results:Compared with blank control, RBG, Ins, HOMA-IR, PAG5, PAGmax, vWF, TXA2 were higher in model group(p<0.05, p<0.01). Compared with model, BYHW decoction group is lower in RBG, Ins, HOMA-IR, PAG5, PAGmax, vWF and TXA2(p<0.05, p<0.01);BYHW decoction without Radix Astragali group was lower in vWF and TXA2(p<0.05, p<0.01), higher in FBG(p<0.01), no evident differences in RBG, Ins, HOMA-IR, PAG5 and PAGmax. Compared with BYHW decoction without Radix Astragali group, BYHW decoction group is lower in Ins,HOMA-IR and TXA2(P<0.05). Conclusion:â‘ BYHW decoction could reduce BG and Ins to normal, and maintain normal glucose metabolic and prevent IR, and improve PTS in PAG, vWF and TXA2. Astragali is a very important part in this decoction with the affect of maintaining normal glucose metabolic and prevent IR. Six other drugs could invigorate the circulation of blood, and improve PTS, Radix Astragali may strengthen this effect. This revealed that nourishing-Qi is essential to solving blood stasis in preventing MetS.â‘¢BYHW decoction was originally used in treating stroke. While in this research it was used in preventing the accruing of MetS with the affect of nourishing-Qi and invigorating the circulation of blood. This indicates that drugs and decoctions once were used in treating complications, might also be used in preventing this disease. And this so called "preventive treatment of disease" might have a guiding meaning in clinic.
