Objective To investigate the expression of S100A4, S100A8, and S100A11 proteins in human squamous cell carcinomas of the uterine cervix, and to explore the relationship of the clinical significance between the S100 subtypes and human squamous cell carcinomas of the uterine cervix. Methods Specimens from 30 cases of normal squamous epithelium of cervical tissue,93 cases of invasive carcinoma of uterine cervix were analyzed by immunohistochemistry (SP method). Then the patients would have the operation. Paraffin-embedding specimens, HE coloring, and immunohistochemistry. Randomly select 10 high-power (400 X) field of vision, and count the total number of cells and the number of positive cells obtained for each slice, then get the average percentage of positive cells. Semi-quantitatively estimate the intensity of positive reaction to positive cells, then express the intensity as a percentage, negative (-):<5%; weak positive (+), in 5%-25%; positive (+):In 26%-75%; strong positive (+++):> 75%. Finally, count the ones whose intensity of positive reaction was form weakly positive to strong positiveResults 1. S100A4, S100A8, and S100A11 proteins in carcinoma were highly expressed as compared with normal cervical tissue (P<0.05).2. The expression level of S100A4 and S100A8 proteins in clinical stage II tissue was higher than that of stage I (P<0.05).3. The expression of S100A4 and S100A8 was higher as the depth of stromal infiltration by the cervical carcinoma was equal to or more than 1/2, compared to that of tumors with an infiltration depth of less than 1/2 (P<0.05)4. The positive rate of S100A4, S100A8 and S100A11 with lymph node metastasis was higher than that without lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). There was a correlation between the expression rates and lymphatic metastasis.5. There was no obvious relationship between S100A11 and the clinical stage and the depth of stromal infiltration(P>0.05)...
