Objective:To evaluate the eficacy and safety of shuxuetong injection for acute cerebral infarction. Methods:To search in CNKI, CBM and WanFang Databases by computer and handsearch Core journals of T.C.M., to gain randomized control trials and controlled clinical trials about shuxuetong injection for acute cerebral infarction. All the databases and journals were retrieved before Feb.2010 The methodological quality of the trials was assessed by the Jadad scale and evaluation was performed with software RevMan 4.2.10.Results:Thirteen randomized controlled trials meeting the inclusion criteria were selected and reviewed. All the selected trials were in Chinese and were in low quality of C. All the trials didn't involved in long-term effect asssessment. The meta analysis from eleven trials indicated that the RR for the 14& 15 days effect (improvement of the neurological deficit) was 2.82, and 95% CI was [2.17,3.67]. The outcome indicator of seven trials was conversion rate of T.C.M. points before treatment and after treatment. The weighted mean difference (WMD) of the scale was-3.16, with 95% CI of[-3.61,-2.72].ConclusionShuxuetong injection is supposed to be efective and safe for acute infarction stroke. However, the evidence is not strong enough due to the general low methodological quality. To determinately evaluate the eficacy and safety of shuxuetong injection for acute infarction stroke. more rationally designed and strictly executed RCTs with large samples will be necessary...
