Objective:This experiment takes Chinese medicine theories as an instruction, to observe the clinical effect of Yiqiyangyin on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) patients.Methods:40 cases patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis were randomly divided into two groups, the treatment group (20 cases) and the control group (20 cases). All patients were given drugs for 3 months and were observed two treatment stages. The treatment group was treated with Yiqiyangyin. The control group was treated with Prednisolone. The changes of clinical symptoms and signs, the blood gas analysis, the change of quality of life, the occurrence of lung re-infection rate and the make use of antibiotic were observed before and after the treatment. Results:The total effective rate was 95.0% in the treatment group, better than 70.0% of the control group (P<0.05). The total symptom and signs cores in two groups all decreased than pre-treatment (P<0.05), after the treatment group decreased more significantly (P<0.05). The two groups significantly increased the PaO2 after treatment (P<0.05), and the treatment group with significantly increased PaO2 compared to the control group (P<0.05). In quality of life, the remarkable effective rate individually was 65% and 95% while effective rate individually was 95% and 75%, proved that the treated group was higher than control group. The occurrence of lung re-infection and the make use of antibiotic in the treatment group were lower than the control group with in the treatment period and the difference between the two group was significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:The method of Yiqiyangyin could not only improve the clinical symptoms and signs, the pulmonary function, increase PaO2, but also reduce the occurrence of lung re-infection rate and the adverse effects. Meanwhile, it could delay the course of pulmonary fibrosis, enhance the quality of patients'life, and have a practical value to the clinical research.
