Objective Apply the low field intensity joint MR to analysis the effect of type II collagen in majority New Zealand albino rabbit knee articular cartilage defect repair, reaseach the diagnostic value of intensity joint MR in knee articular cartilage defect repair.Method Typeâ…¡collagen was prepared from pig's articular cartilage and detected.40 New Zealand albino rabbit left knee were random divided into two group:A group:cartilage defect were made by operation,but typeâ…¡collagen were not implant; B group:cartilage defect were made by operation and type II collagen were implant in the defect. Two group of rabbit left knees were scan in joint MR at 2,6,12,18 weeks after operations, SET1,GRET1,T2 were applied, axial, coronal and sagittal view were involved,5 rabbits were involved in each group erery time. Histological anatomy were done after MR scan. The MR image of the articular cartilage defect repair process were investigated.Results Two group of rabbit knees showed regular dynamic MR appearance, associated with the histological anatomy, the cartilage defect nature repair process were seen in A group; the packing material maturation process were seen in B group.12 weeks after operations, articular cartilage signal were seen in both two groups,1 in group A and 3 in group B. Articular cartilage signal were more obviously in 18 weeks,2 in group A and 5 in group B, there were more rabbit knees showed cartilage signal in B group than A group. X2 test was done(X2=15.95,p<0.01) about cartilage signal showed or not in different weeks, cartilage signal showed or not were relevant to the weeks (Pearson's R=0.62, P<0.01). The new cartilage signal were more obviously, clear and smooth as time went on, match the histological anatomy results.Conclusion The ability of type II collagen to facilitate the articular cartilage defect repair was certified. Low field intensity joint MR is potential in articular cartilage defect repair evaluation without trauma in living body for its low price and convenient.
